Confidence in Dating: How Much Does It Matter?

Confidence feels good in every aspect of life, including dating. It can help you feel more at ease and make interactions more enjoyable. However, the truth is, you don't need to be confident to get dates or even to hook up. You might find it happens less often without confidence, but it's still possible. I encourage you to work on building your confidence, though it won't happen overnight, and I can't do it for you. It's something you have to work on yourself, but trust me, it's easier than you think. What Should You Do Until You Become Confident?

As I mentioned, you need to practice and put yourself in situations where there's no real risk. This is where you learn. My favorite mantra is, "You never lose: You win, or you learn something."

Some experts suggest pretending to be confident, but I only partly agree. Pretending can be useful for practice. Like acting, if you pretend enough, your mind and body will start syncing up, and you'll actually start doing better over time. However, when you're just starting, many people can tell if you're pretending because they pick up on it subconsciously. But this isn't necessarily a problem if you can make light of it. For example, you could say something like, "See, I'm a professional lover, even though it's my first time doing this." Obviously, that's not true, but it's still funny and can break the ice.

Handling a Lack of Confidence Without Pretending

Just accept where you are and don't stress too much about it. If you can adopt a "whatever" attitude, it can work in your favor. Expecting nothing can sometimes lead to pleasant surprises. Of course, you still need to practice and work on yourself, but with the right mindset, you'll enjoy the journey of becoming your best self and won't feel hurt by setbacks. Don't be a loser

I don't recommend aiming to be a loser, but some types of girls are attracted to that type, so you still have a chance. However, because you want to be a real man, improving yourself from "I don't care" to "I can do anything" is the goal. Focus on changing what you can control, like your mindset, which is a very powerful tool. You don't have to change your appearance drastically, but you can improve how you dress and present yourself. Grooming well and smelling good can make a big difference.

Even in an age where some might feel white guys are in crisis, we know the playbook and can quickly learn and adapt to become successful in dating. Remember, there are more beautiful women out there than successful men. Even if that's not true in your location, consider travel for dating; practicing in different settings can build your confidence and experience, making you more desirable. You might even find a partner abroad. There are many possibilities.
